This essential tour of the French Basque Country will take you to three of the most beautiful towns in the region. Originally fishing and agricultural ports (whale hunting), the region flourished in the mid. XVIIIth century when it became a destination for the European aristocracy to visit its spas and casinos.
Bayonne is one of the most historic cities in the French Basque Country. Port for the Kingdom of Navarre in the middle ages, it has an perfectly mantained XIIth century cathedral, which is the departure point for the Coastal Camino de Santiago. It’s also known for its artisan chocolates, old streets, fisherman’s port, and political past.
Biarritz and Saint Jean de Luz are two coastal towns where surfing and fishing are protagonists. Summer destination for all European upper class since the 1850’s, they kept their classy stores and Basque artisan products. They are the perfect example of tradition and modernity in the South of France.

Pick up in San Sebastian or nearby, and drive to Bayonne
Walking tour in Bayonne: visit the XIIth century Cathedral, chocolate stores, old port, historic streets and Market; time for a coffee break!
Drive to Biarritz: walking city tour, learn all about the Grand Plage, Hotel du Palais, Saint Eugenie Church, Rocher de la Vierge (virgin), fisherman’s port, and classy shops
Time for Lunch in Biarritz: We will take you to a local favorite restaurant in Biarritz for lunch
Short drive to Saint Jean de Luz: walk along Rue Gambeta enjoying its typical basque stores of piment d’espelete, espardilles, macarons and more. Walk the old port and along the beach
Drive back to San Sebastian
